The Maudsland Test Facility

-

The H2O PurePlus® "All Waste Treatment" testing facility at Maudsland, on Queensland's Gold Coast, has been treating both grey and black water for more than five years. The system was installed to replace an under performing mechanical grey water recycling system.

The dwelling - including three bathrooms, three toilets, one laundry and two kitchen sinks - has handled all grey and black water waste generated by eight adults.

The H2O PurePlus® Domestic system is connected directly to the dwelling's original grease trap and septic tank.

Treated grey water is returned to the dwelling's toilets via an 8000 litre water tank. A remotely controlled water quality monitoring and auditing system is installed in-line for constant measuring between the holding tank, the dwelling and external taps.

Treated black water from the toilets is used for all external watering needs.

The developer of H2O PurePlus®, Kevin Venville, held an open day at the Maudsland Test Facility to show local authorities, water industry experts and housing developers the benefits of the system (September 2005).

Given that Queensland was in the grip of its worst recorded drought in 100 years the timing of the first public presentation of the H2O Pure Plus system was appropriate.
